The objective of this RFP call is to invite Construction Managers to provide submissions to bid on the Construction of Howden Recreation Centre. The City expects that Construction Managers have the ability, experience, equipment and financial stability to enable them to perform and satisfactorily complete the work as outlined in the specifications. 

Redevelopment of the Howden Recreational Centre site is part of a larger strategic plan; the Bramalea Recreation Centre Renewal Strategy. The now demolished Howden Recreation Centre was an ageing facility set back far from Howden Boulevard. In addition, the facility will include a 30,000 sq ft Brampton Library as per the Council Resolution passed at Special Council Meeting held on January 13, 14, 16, and 20, 2025.

This project includes the demolition of the existing Howden Recreation Centre facility and construction of a new sports field for the School. While final floor areas will be established at the end of the design phase, the new recreation centre is expected to have an area of approximately 4,200sq.m. (45,200 sq. ft.). This will increase the City’s recreation programming at this site by approximately 2,304 sq.m. (24,800 sq.ft.).

The new facility will house a library and a Recreation Centre  which will have both indoor and outdoor multi-sport courts, a fitness/studio space and a variety of multi-purpose rooms that will create vibrancy, increase programming activity, and allow for additional active living choices in the Bramalea area. Space will also be provided for the YMCA, daycare services.
